Our Mission

MyTribe educates and empowers parents to trust they are the best parents for their children and that they can cope with the hard moments of parenting. We want parents to feel seen and supported—you can get through this! MyTribe is a place where you can find resources, knowledge, and skills to thrive as a parent.

Our vision

We aim to be the go-to resource for new parents who want to be the best versions of themselves and to inform and educate our community about what to really expect as they transition to the new role of parenthood.

How We Chose the Name “MyTribe”

The MyTribe co-founder, Kim Meehan knew all about the mental health challenges of motherhood from her eight years of practice as a psychiatric nurse practitioner. But through her own challenging birth story and pregnancy loss, Kim saw firsthand how few resources were out there for parents navigating these beginning phases of parenthood.

One day, in the NICU with her son, Kim shared her gratitude with one of the nurses, saying that she just didn’t know how people could go through all of these changes of becoming a parent alone. The nurse’s response made quite an impression on Kim. The nurse explained, “Right now, we are your tribe. But if you were at home with your baby, you’d create your tribe. It might include your mom, your sister, or your best friends.”

Kim was so thankful for her tribe and her own knowledge and resources from working in the mental health field. But she was also acutely aware of how many people go through the journies of fertility, pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and parenthood with little to no tribe.

One thing we’ve seen over and over is that every woman, every parent, has a story about how some aspect of their parenting journey felt unsupported or like they didn’t have the tools they needed to thrive. And that’s why we knew we had to create MyTribe—to give moms and new parents the community and resources they need to thrive as they enter perhaps the most challenging, yet rewarding phase of their lives so far.

Meet Kimberly Meehan, NP, PMH-C

Kimberly has a Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience and Behavior and a Master’s degree in Nursing with a specialty as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from Boston College. After her own lived experiences of having a challenging birth and pregnancy loss, she was inspired to get her perinatal mental health certification (PMH-C). In her private practice, she provides medication management, psychotherapy, and holistic interventions for adults with mental health concerns. But her increasing passion has been supporting the larger community here at MyTribe.

Katie Brett, MSN, PMHNP-BC

Katie Brett has spent over a decade working with women through their reproductive journeys. From being at the bedside of women during childbirth, guiding them through the challenges of breastfeeding, to being a trusted partner in the world of IVF and fertility treatments, she has been witness to thousands of beautiful, heartfelt and sometimes difficult moments.

In every setting, she found that one thing was missing: reliable, empowering support for women’s mental health. She was inspired to become a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner to best care for these women’s mental health needs, and after joining forces with Kim Meehan, became committed to creating that safe space for women in My Tribe.
